Maruti Suzuki E Vitara Electric SUV: Suzuki, the parent company of the country’s leading car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki, has officially introduced its new electric car Suzuki E Vitara. This is the same electric SUV which the company introduced as a concept Maruti eVX in India during the Auto Expo last year. Now the company has introduced its production ready model during the EICMA Motor Show held in Milan, Italy. That is, this car will be introduced as Maruti’s first electric car in India.
Suzuki E Vitara is a global model for Suzuki. Which will be manufactured at Suzuki’s Gujarat plant. 50 percent of its production is planned to be exported to Japan and the European market. This is the reason why the company has presented the production ready model of this electric SUV to the world for the first time during the global event in Italy. It is planned to be launched for sale in the Indian market in March 2025, before that it will be introduced in the Auto Expo to be held in January 2025.
How is the new Suzuki E Vitara
Talking about the new Suzuki E-Vitara, it is quite similar to the concept model. Its look-design and even size are similar to Maruti eVX. Although some sharp angles have been reduced, but a large part of it is similar to the eVX concept. It has tri-slash LED daytime running lights at the front and rear, charging ports on the front edges and curves on the rear wheel arch. In this, the rear door handle has been moved to the C-pillar, which is exactly like the old Swift.
Equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels, this electric SUV measures 4,275 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width and 1,635 mm in height. It gets a wheelbase of 2,700 mm, which is longer than the Creta. This larger wheelbase will help in installing a better battery pack inside the car. Its ground clearance is 180 mm which is sufficient for most Indian road conditions. Its total weight is 1,702 kg to 1,899 kg depending on different variants.

Battery Pack and Range
The company has introduced Suzuki e Vitara with two different battery packs (49kWh and 61kWh). The larger battery pack has been given a dual-motor all wheel drive (AWD) setup, which the company calls All Grip-E. It has a blade cell lithium iron-phosphate (LFP) battery pack sourced from Chinese car company Build Your Dream (BYD). While other car manufacturers only export battery cells and assemble them locally and use them in their vehicles, Suzuki is importing the entire battery pack from BYD.
However, Suzuki has not yet given any official information about the range of this electric SUV. But the company had earlier said that the large battery pack with a capacity of 61kWh can give a driving range of up to 500 km on a single charge in global tests. So this much can be expected from this electric SUV.
Power and Performance
Talking about power, the 49kWh battery with a single motor on the front axle generates 144hp of power. While the large 61kWh battery pack with a single-motor gives a power output of up to 174hp. Both these versions generate a torque of 189Nm. However, in the e-Allgrip (AWD) variant, an additional 65hp motor is added on the rear axle. Due to which the total power output increases to 184hp and the torque to 300Nm, which is much more.
These features are available
Talking about the cabin of this SUV, it has a new operating system or user interface with dual screen. Not only does it have a touchscreen facility, but it also has a much more informative digital dial than the existing SmartPlay Pro+ system. The rear has a split-folding seat, adjustable headrest and three-point seatbelts for all passengers and ISOFIX child seat mounts.
Maruti e Vitara is equipped with advanced features. It has safety features like electronic parking brake with auto hold, drive modes including ‘Trail’ for AWD version, hill descent control, single-zone auto climate control, wireless phone charger, side and curtain airbags, heated mirrors and advanced driving assistance system (ADAS).
